The 123 Lock-Down Latch is designed to make it fast and easy to go into “lockdown” mode when there is a threat at your school. First, the latch is securely installed on the door using two screws so it cannot fall off or get lost. During normal school hours, the latch is kept in the “open” position which allows the door to stay slightly open using the bumper. When there is a lockdown, simply slide the classroom intruder lock to the “closed” position which allows the door to close and lock. There is no delay caused by a teacher looking for keys or having to exit the classroom to lock the door. This latch can be used on a regular basis to keep the door “unlocked” so it becomes part of the daily routine.
There are many classroom lockdown gadgets out there. Some use adhesives to stick to the door and are made of plastic or rubber materials which can crack or break down over time. Adhesives may become unglued and the latch will no longer stick to the door.
